The Principles of Curriculum Development in Secondary Education
The general goal of this work is to familiarize the reader with the importance, necessity and status of curriculum development and bring into the light the principles, aims, content, basics and methods of curriculum development for the students of secondary education. Besides, the reader by an in depth study
of this book and understanding its orientation becomes prepared to cooperate in developing curriculum in this field.
The book is in eight chapters. The first chapter defines programming and discusses its different types and its importance in the educational system. In the second chapter secondary education in Iran is introduced. The problems with the previous system (at work in pre-revolutionary Iran) and the necessity to change it are the topics addressed in this chapter. The third chapter is dedicated to the principles of educational planning for high school. In the fourth chapter the aims of high school education are discussed. The fifth chapter deals with assigning the content of
the curriculum in secondary education. The definition of content, determining the content, norms and principles of determining content and the method of presenting the content are among the topics in this chapter. The sixth chapter encompasses the problem of organizing the content of curriculum. Methods of teaching-learning in high school levels are the subject of the seventh chapter. The eighth chapter discusses evaluation. The importance of evaluation, the phases of evaluation and its significance in the general subject of educational planning are the major subtitles of this chapter.
