Foundation and Principles of Guidance and Counselling
The development of the humanities and the growth of the behavioral sciences focused on guidance and counseling as an independent branch of the behavioral sciences. Initially, guidance and counseling were used to assist students in growth, adaptation, and academic and career decision-making, and were more commonly used in educational institutions. Gradually, it was used in health centers to help develop, prevent and treat emotional-behavioral disorders. Today, guidance and counseling is a helpful profession to help people who have problems with growth, adaptation, decision-making, family relationships, social skills, and lifestyle, and counseling helps these people find solutions to these problems. In this book, guidance and counseling are used as an overlapping flow and are not distinguished from each other.
