Introduction to Drought and Its Indices
Drought is one of the natural hazards resulting from less rainfall than expected. The damages and effects of this phenomenon on human societies and the environment necessitate the understanding of different dimensions and finding solutions for its consequences. Accordingly, the present book in five chapters emphasizes the necessity of principled management and planning to deal with its consequences, while introducing drought, its types, causes and indicators, and by presenting scientific and practical solutions. In addition to the above, the audience is introduced to the methods of studying and monitoring drought, the theoretical framework of its indicators, as well as the details of the computational method along with practical examples.
