An Introduction to Local Government
The administration of the country needs special mechanisms, one of which is the local government. Local government is an undeniable reality with solid philosophical foundations for administering the local public affairs and the common ground of all philosophical-political doctrines. In its true sense, this aspect of political geography is based on democratic principles and is of decentralized, bottom-up decision-making, localism and neighborhood-based, citizen-oriented, participatory, accountability nature and has financial independence and a horizontal relationship with other levels of power. This process is called “governance” in modern theories and emphasizes the interaction and synergy among government forces, local governments, the private sector, and civil society for better management of the local public affairs.
