A Selection of Khaghani Poems
Afzal al-Din Badil ibn Ali Khaqani is one of the famous eloquent speakers in the Persian language and literature in the sixth century AH. In this book, we are going to introduce this great poet from different perspectives and to some extent discuss his excellent character as much as possible. He is an orator with a rich poetic mind and talent, his life is accompanied by his uncle a physician, philosopher, and wise cousin, who is familiar with the secrets of the universe. Hence, astronomical, philosophical, and medical terms and expressions have been used a lot in Khaghani’s poems, which shows the poet’s mastery of the sciences of his time. Khaghani is a Muslim and Shafi’i poet, and in the principles was the follower of the Ash’arites thought. The influence of these beliefs is quite evident in his poems, and we have mentioned examples of such beliefs.
