Understanding the theoretical reflections of historians about history, historiography and its subject, as well as the style and method of historiography can only be obtained by examining the works of historiography. The study of Iranian historiographical works that have emerged in three forms of general history, dynastic history and local history, in addition to showing the trajectory and trend of Iranian historiography and its components and characteristics, is an important source for understanding the historical and political thought of each era. Emphasizing the important works of historiography of each period, this book is a preliminary attempt to analyze the flow of Iranian historiography in Persian from its point of departure with the Tabari’s Chronicle of Abu Ali Balami to Alexandrian Mirror of Mirza Agha Khan Kermani on the eve of constitutionalism.
