In recent decades, there has been a debate about what and how Islamic art is more or less in Iranian scientific and academic circles. Many Western scholars have used the term “Islamic art” from different angles and approaches and talked about it. Paying attention to the intellectual foundations of these different approaches is of fundamental importance. On the other hand, despite the basic commonalities between the various arts in the Islamic world, each type of art has its own special requirements that require a detailed theoretical discussion. Accordingly, in this book, an attempt has been made to address this issue in the form of three general sections: “Foundations of Theory building in Islamic Art”, “Theoretical Foundations of Arts in the Islamic World” and “Islamic Art from Different Approaches”.
