Iran with the formation of the Safavid state in the tenth century AH, after centuries of confusion and turmoil in the Islamic era, not only reached a political unity relying in the historical borders, but also it began a new movement in the field of cultural and civilizational developments with the recognition of the Shiite religion, which continued with ups and downs for nearly two and a half centuries, thus laying the foundation for Iranian national identity in the new era.
