The Conference on “Theory of Unity of Actions in Islamic Wisdom and Philosophy” Held Simultaneously in Tehran and Moscow

According to the Office for International Academic Cooperation at SAMT, the conference took place on Wednesday, 9 Mehr 1404 (October 1, 2025), both virtually and in person, simultaneously in Tehran and Moscow. The event was a collaborative effort between SAMT, RUDN University, and the Ibn Sina Foundation.

In the opening session, Professor N. S. Karabaev, Scientific Advisor to the Rector of RUDN University; Dr. Hamid Hadavi-Moghadam, President of the Ibn Sina Foundation; and Hojjat al-Islam wal-Muslimeen Dr. Hamid Shahriari, President of SAMT, delivered speeches addressing various aspects of the theory of unity in action (tawḥīd al-afʿāl) and its significance in Islamic philosophy and wisdom. The speakers expressed their satisfaction with the organization of this scholarly event and emphasized the importance of continuing and deepening academic cooperation between the participating institutions.

During the academic sessions, researchers from RUDN University, the Institute of Philosophy of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and SAMT presented their papers as follows:

•    Dr. Maliheh Saberi Najafabadi, Ph.D. in Philosophy and Theology, Head of the Philosophy Research Group at SAMT:
“Divine Unity in Action from the Perspective of Rumi.”
•    Dr. Hamidreza Khademi, Ph.D. in Comparative Philosophy, Director of Research and Evaluation at SAMT:
“Divine Unity in Action in Islamic Wisdom, with an Emphasis on the Views of Allameh Tabataba’i.”
•    Professor Dr. N. S. Karabaev, Ph.D. in Philosophical Sciences, Scientific Advisor to the Rector of RUDN University and Head of the Chair of the History of Philosophy:
“The ‘Light’ of Reason in the Theological–Philosophical Teachings of al-Ghazali.”
•    Dr. R. V. Peshkho, Senior Researcher, Ph.D. in Philosophical Sciences, Head of the Chair of Oriental and African Studies, RUDN University:
“The Spiritual Guidance of al-Harith al-Muhasibi in Bad’ man anāba ilā Allāh as a Realization of ‘Negative Theology’ on the Path Toward True Monotheism.”
•    Dr. F. A. Noufal, Ph.D. in Philosophical Sciences, Researcher at the Institute of Philosophy, Russian Academy of Sciences:
“The Theory of Kasb in Samiri: A Jewish Story of an Islamic Concept.”
•    Dr. A. A. Lukashev, Ph.D. in Philosophical Sciences, Senior Researcher at the Institute of Philosophy, Russian Academy of Sciences:
“Divine Unity in Action in the Works of Farid al-Din ‘Attar and His Interpretation of the Concept of ‘Determinism’ (Quantitative Analytical Methods).”
