A Descriptive Dictionary of Language Teaching Terms
Foreign language teaching in Iran has become an applied science; therefore, it is natural that after detailed descriptions and explanations, one should have the necessary resources to better understand the concepts needed in this field in order to play a useful role in acquainting the audience with the science of language teaching. The purpose of this dictionary is based on two principles: 1. to provide a referable resource for professors, researchers, teachers, and students in the field of language teaching and related fields, 2. to conceptualize the field and practical experiences along with the theoretical thoughts of science experts Language and especially foreign language teaching. Using English, French, and Persian sources and the authors’ experiences in the classroom, this work has been able to fill the gap in foreign language teaching to some extent. In short, it can be said that meeting the expectations of the audience, avoiding redundancy in words, providing accurate models of terms and concepts to accurately describe scientific thinking, responding to the native needs of the audience, providing accurate examples of scientific thinking, avoiding the dominance of vocabularies over comprehension and choosing the most appropriate and widely used concepts, are the most prominent features of this dictionary.
