The importance of medieval thinking is due to several reasons: First, the West we know today was formed in this era and the basis and cultural structure of the West is from this period. Second, many thinkers of this age still have followers in the West. The purpose of writing this book is to acquaint Persian-speakers with Western thought and philosophy from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance. This book begins with an explanation of the formation of Christianity and in particular the paul-John Christianity, which is the dominant Christianity in the West. It then goes on to explain the Church Fathers’ period up to the fifth century AD. From the fifth century AD to the twelfth century AD. The next part is when the formation of Europe takes place. Scholasticism in the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries AD is an important part of this book and the last section is dedicated to explaining Western thought in the Renaissance.
