Introduction to Information and Communication
Information and communication are the terms that are pervasive in today’s society and we encounter them to such an extent that we usually do not think about their meaning and definition; But the meaning of these two terms, especially information, has been explained in different ways in different disciplines. From the 1940s onwards, different theories emerged in the field of information and communication, sometimes differing in nature and purpose. The information revolution that began in the twentieth century and gradually accelerated, has turned the industrial society into an “information society.” In the information society, the temporal and spatial dimensions are diminished and human interactions are further strengthened. This book examines and analyzes issues such as the impact of information on societies, information economics, information ethics, information policies, social networks, and the future of information and communication.
