Basics and Methods of Information Literacy Education
The phenomenon of information literacy has been discussed since the seventies, but in the twenty-first century AD has affected the scientific and socio-economic growth of countries. Therefore, familiarity with information literacy and its standards and acquiring information-seeking skills are essential for scholars and students.
This book introduces the basics, effective factors, models, and standards of information literacy and describes the information society and the importance of information literacy in Iran. Furthermore, since the background of librarians, scholars, and documentarians in providing information center services is consistent with issues of information use and user education, the need for information literacy training by librarians and its application with regard to practical examples are discussed. Finally, international organizations and centers introduce information literacy and point out their goals and responsibilities for the development of information literacy so that students of knowledge and information science are familiar with these centers and understand the need for professional communication and the role of these organizations.
