The Rationality of Religious Belief in Externalist Epistemologies
In contemporary epistemology, extraversion is a serious and popular approach to explaining the rationality of beliefs. In religious epistemology, some contemporary theorists, inspired by extroverted approaches, have tried to show completely new and different explanations from the past to show the epistemological value of religious beliefs. Examples of these theories can be found in the works of two prominent philosophers of religion, Alvin Plantinga and William P. Alston. In this book, first, to get acquainted with extroversion, the view of Alvin Goldman, a prominent figure in this field, is explained, and then how to use extroversion in defending the rationality of religious belief is explained by the views of Plantinga and Alston. In conclusion, the idea of "knowledge by presence" is mentioned as one of the proposed solutions to solve the problem.
