A Guide to the Use of the Library of Congress Classification
The Library of Congress is a dynamic classification that develops in line with the day-to-day needs of specialized and academic libraries. Therefore, in order to teach this classification based on the special and new needs of the country’s libraries, the requisite predictions have been made in the undergraduate course of knowledge and information science. This book has been authored to cover the practical needs and new issues related to this classification, in which, while presenting the definition of classification and its background, it has stated the goals and requisites of classification and also introduced its known types in the world. In addition, comprehensive information from all categories, along with a brief history and practical characteristics of each category, is provided separately. Also, one of the most important parts of the book is the introduction of extended categories in Persian, which has been compiled according to the needs of Iranian librarians along with examples and exercises to gain skills and facilitate the classification. In addition, the bibliography characteristics, how the Persian and Latin tables work, along with examples and exercises are explained.
