To compose a poem, the poet obtains the essence of it from the array of his acquired knowledge. He then mixes it with streaks of emotion and imagination. Out of this artful combination, the poet represents colorful pictures to the reader and listener. So that we consider the composition of a poet which passes through his emotion and imagination and abound with myth, history, medicine, astrology, philosophy, rhetoric, etc to be from the treasury of his knowledge. Thus if a poet has some erudition in the Quran and Hadith, it is natural to observe its manifestation in his poetry.
This book is a study on the reflection of the Quran and Hadith in Persian poetry. The content of the book is divided into three parts. In the first part, some introductory notes such as the background and history of how the Persian poets have been influenced by the Quran and Hadith, its transformation and evolution, their explicit and implicit methods, and escapism with it, etc are discussed.
In the second part, the methods and types in which the poetry has been influenced by the Quran and Hadith is re-examined by means of novel terminologies like verbal, hermeneutic, reported, inspirational, fundamental, allusive, exegetic, comparative, photographic and multi-faceted. The third part will chronologically examine the use of the Quran and Hadith by the poets composing in Persian language from the beginning to the eighth century. Moreover, in this part some sample poems of different poets are compared.

Written for the students of Persian language and literature as a primary sourcebook for a course in The Influence of the Quran and Hadith on Persian Literature, this book is a study on the reflection of the Quran and Hadith in Persian poetry.
