The former scholars have performed their heavy duty to preserve and transmit the valuable heritage remained from the Inffalible Imams and great religious leaders. They took major steps to explain and solve the problems of Hadiths. It is our responsibility to devise general and comprehensive methods which, at least in the field of Hadith, have the required application and are useful in opening new ways and can produce responses to new questions. The present text attempts to take some steps down this un-trodden path.
The content of the book is divided into three parts and twelve chapters. The first part gives definition, function and literature review of Hadith Studies (Fiqh Al-Hadith). The second part under the title of “A Procedure for Understanding Hadith” studies the prerequisites of understanding, understanding the singulars, understanding the compounds, compiling the parallels, finding the causes of the Hadiths, forming Hadith family, observing opposing Hadiths and employing men’s findings. In the third part the obstacles to understanding the text and its purposes are discussed. At the end of each chapter, there are synopses, sample questions and topics for further studies. In the note part, list of important Arabic dictionaries and books on infrequent Hadiths are provided.

Compiled for the students of theology (Quran and Hadith studies) as a primary sourcebook for a course in Hadith Studies”, this book attempts to devise general and comprehensive methods in the field of Hadith, which have the required application and are useful in opening new ways and can produce responses to new questions.
